Can a search engine make a distinction between a link in a blog post and a link in blog comments?

I mean when it’s figuring out how to rank the pages in search results? The thing is that it seems like it would mean more if the link was in the main body of a posting as opposed to the comments, and thus should be given more weight.

    Regarding the ‘weighting’ of importance for links whether its in the blog posting or in the comments, it is extremely unlikely that anybody would be able to clarify which is more important. You could put that question to Matt Cutts from Google
