How Many One Way Links Do You Need to Generate For First Page Google?
By Chris Gilmour
The objective of many internet marketers is to achieve the elusive number one position on Google or any other search engine. Statistics show that if you are in the top ten (the first page of Google) then you will receive the most amount of traffic to your website. Obvious as it sounds, when a surfer types in the search words into the search engine, the chances are they will more or less choose the first 5, possibly 10, results. Therefore, if your website is on the tenth page, ranked at 100 out of millions, although it shows a certain amount of well matched search results, you will invariably not receive much traffic.
To assist with achieving first page domination, many marketers will depend heavily on generating one way links pointing to the page that they are wanting to be first page residents on. Sure, this tactic works, when used correctly, by targeting the keywords that you want to be first page on and generating tens and hundreds of links containing the targeted keywords.
However, to dominate the first page of Google with your keywords you don’t necessarily need to generate hundreds of links for the targeted keyword. You can still achieve first page results, even the number 1 position on Google, with very few links.
During SEO campaigns, I often use the command “links: www………” in Google to find out the amount of links pointing to a website or page. When using this command, you can see pages upon pages of links or very little depending on the website that you are researching.
When generating one way links, the emphasis has to be on quality rather than quantity. As one way links are considered almost as ‘votes’ for a site or page, search engines put weight on where the link originated from. Therefore, contrary to some thoughts, it is better to have 10 links from high PR sites and authority sites than 100 links from low PR and random sites.
When using the links: xxxxx command, I have seen some websites that have only 20 links ranked higher for the same keywords of those who have 100 links, and these have been for highly competitive keywords. Further research of the links show that they are from more trusted and authority sites. Therefore, when generating one way links, you need to aim for good quality, high ranking authority sites to help achieve the desired first page ranking.
To help assist you with you finding the high ranking authority sites, I would recommend a couple of things. Firstly, and most importantly, is to purchase good SEO Software such as SEO Elite. Secondly, use the command “links: xxxxxx” in your research and thirdly, to submit your sites to as many high ranking web directories, paid and free, with a Google PR5 or above.
